About This Album

Regine Velasquez, a Filipino singer, actress, record producer, and television host, is widely recognized as "Asia's Songbird" and "The Queen of Pop" in her home country, known for her extensive vocal range and belting technique. Born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970, in Tondo, Manila, her early vocal training included her father immersing her neck-deep in the sea to strengthen her core and stomach muscles and develop lung capacity. Velasquez rose to prominence after winning the television talent show *Ang Bagong Kampeon* in 1984 and the *Asia Pacific Singing Contest* in 1989. After an initial single, "Love Me Again," released in 1986 under the name Chona, did not achieve commercial success, she adopted the stage name Regine Velasquez for her debut studio album, *Regine* (1987), released under Viva Records. She has since sold over seven million records in the Philippines and 1.5 million in Asia, making her the best-selling Filipino artist of all time.
