The Filipino pop recording "On the Wings of Love" features Regine Velasquez, an artist recognized for her extensive vocal range and belting technique. Often referred to as "Asia's Songbird" and "The Queen of Pop" in her home country, Velasquez has sold over seven million records in the Philippines and 1.5 million in Asia, making her the best-selling Filipino artist of all time. Born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970, in Tondo, Manila, her early vocal training involved her father immersing her neck-deep in the sea to strengthen her core and stomach muscles and develop lung capacity. Velasquez rose to prominence after winning the television talent show *Ang Bagong Kampeon* in 1984 and the *Asia Pacific Singing Contest* in 1989. She initially released a single titled "Love Me Again" in 1986 under the name Chona, which was not commercially successful. She adopted the stage name Regine Velasquez for her debut studio album, *Regine* (1987), released under Viva Records.
