Regine Velasquez, a Filipino singer, actress, record producer, and television host, is often celebrated as "Asia's Songbird" and "The Queen of Pop" in her home country, a recognition that reflects her extensive vocal range and belting technique. Her musical journey began early, with her father employing an unconventional vocal training method that involved immersing her neck-deep in the sea to strengthen her core and stomach muscles and develop lung capacity. Born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970, in Tondo, Manila, she first rose to prominence after winning the television talent show *Ang Bagong Kampeon* in 1984, followed by the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989. While her initial single, "Love Me Again," released in 1986 under the name Chona, did not achieve commercial success, she adopted the stage name Regine Velasquez for her 1987 debut studio album, *Regine*, released through Viva Records.
