Regine Velasquez, often celebrated as "Asia's Songbird" and "The Queen of Pop" in the Philippines, performs "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," a pop recording from her home country. Her extensive vocal range and belting technique have contributed to her status as the best-selling Filipino artist of all time, with over seven million records sold in the Philippines and 1.5 million across Asia. Born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970, in Tondo, Manila, her early vocal training included unique methods, such as her father immersing her neck-deep in the sea to build core strength, stomach muscles, and lung capacity. Velasquez first gained prominence by winning the television talent show Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984, followed by the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989. While her 1986 single "Love Me Again," released under the name Chona, did not achieve commercial success, she adopted the stage name Regine Velasquez for her 1987 debut studio album, *Regine*, released through Viva Records.
