Born Aristotle Pollisco in the Rizal province port town of Binangonan, the artist who would become one of Pinoy hip-hop’s most transformative voices first cut his teeth in the Philippines’ bustling underground hip-hop circuit, honing his craft in a space that prioritized lyrical precision and unvarnished storytelling. He first rose to local prominence as a member of the gangsta rap group Death Threat, where he refined the technical skill and creative perspective that would carry him through a decades-spanning solo career. While with the group, he contributed to a handful of collective releases, including 1997’s quadruple-platinum Kings of da Underground, a project that cemented Death Threat’s status as a defining force in Filipino hip-hop and positioned Pollisco as a standout talent, even as he prepared to strike out on his own to explore individual creative themes.
