The indie folk sound of the Philippines finds a prominent voice in Ben&Ben, a band that originated in Manila in 2016. Initially formed by twin brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin Guico under the name The Benjamins, the group expanded significantly in 2017 to become a nine-member ensemble. This larger lineup includes Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Jam Villanueva on drums, Agnes Reoma on bass, Patricia Lasaten on keyboards, Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano on percussion, and Keifer Cabugao on violin, contributing to their distinctive sound. Ben&Ben's musical style spans indie folk, folk-pop, folk rock, and pop rock, consistently characterized by anthemic qualities and a deep emotional engagement. Their lyrical themes frequently delve into loss, heartbreak, relationships, and the journey toward self-love, resonating with a broad audience.
