The collective that would become MALIQ & D’Essentials first took formal shape on May 15, 2002, launching with eight core personnels to build a creative project rooted in intentional, handcrafted sound that the group themselves coined Organic Music, a unifying framework that guided every choice they made as they grew their output and connected with audiences. The name MALIQ itself was crafted as an acronym for Music And Live Instrument Quality, a core concept dreamed up by brothers Angga and Widi Puradiredja, whose shared creative vision laid the entire foundation for the group’s long-term work and artistic identity.
