Silent Sanctuary, a Filipino rock band formed in Metro Manila in 2001, developed a distinctive "classical music meets rock music" sound, often called "Rockestra," by integrating a dedicated string section into their arrangements. The band initially comprised Norman Dellosa on vocals and guitars, Paolo Legaspi on bass guitar and backing vocals, and Allen Calixto on drums. Their experimentation with classical instruments led to the addition of cellist Anjo Inacay, followed by violist Jett Ramirez and violinist Chino David, who joined formally after contributing string arrangements for a 2002 performance. This lineup released their independently produced debut album, *Ellipsis of the Mind*, in February 2004. After Norman Dellosa's departure, Sarkie Sarangay took over as vocalist, and Jason Rondero became the new bassist following Paolo Legaspi's exit. The band's second album, *Fuchsiang Pag-ibig*, released in 2007 under Universal Records, featured popular songs like "Kundiman" and "Ikaw Lamang.
