About This Album
Diwata (Miss Universe Philippines 2021) - Sam Concepcion positions itself as a defining pop album emerging from the Philippines, tied to one of the country’s most widely watched and culturally significant annual events, the Miss Universe Philippines national pageant’s 2021 iteration, whose broadcast reaches audiences across the archipelago’s more than 7,000 islands, as well as the sprawling global Filipino diaspora that numbers in the tens of millions. Rooted firmly in the pop genre that dominates mainstream creative output from the Philippines, the album leverages the wide, cross-demographic reach of pop to connect with a broad audience, from casual pageant viewers who first encounter its music during the event’s national broadcast, to dedicated followers of Sam Concepcion who seek out each of his releases, to global pop fans who engage with diverse musical offerings from around the world.
