About This Album
The pop recording "Treat You Better" is a 2016 single from Indonesian artist Shawn Mendes, co-written with Teddy Geiger and Scott Harris, and produced by Teddy Geiger, Dan Romer, and Daylight. The song, which peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100, was the lead single from Mendes' second album, *Illuminate*. It topped charts in Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and reached the top ten in Canada, the United Kingdom, and 18 other countries. Mendes, a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician, first gained recognition in 2013 by posting song covers on Vine before signing with Island Records in 2014. His debut EP, *The Shawn Mendes EP*, was released in 2014, followed by his debut studio album, *Handwritten*, in 2015. *Handwritten* debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, making Mendes one of five artists to achieve a number-one debut before the age of 18. The single "Stitches" from *Handwritten* reached number one in the UK and the top 10 in the US and Canada.
