About This Album

Shawn Mendes' 2016 album, *Illuminate*, is a pop recording from Indonesia. It stands as his second studio album and also debuted at number one in the US, following the success of his 2015 debut, *Handwritten*. The lead single from *Illuminate*, "Treat You Better," was released on June 3, 2016, and co-written by Mendes, Teddy Geiger, and Scott Harris. Geiger also produced the song alongside Dan Romer and Daylight. The music video for "Treat You Better," released on July 12, 2016, depicted a storyline about an abusive relationship and concluded with the number for the National Domestic Violence Hotline. This single peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Mendes' second top ten hit on the chart, and also topped charts in Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia, reaching the top ten in Canada, the United Kingdom, and 18 other countries. Other singles from *Illuminate*, including "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back," also reached the top 10 in several countries.
