About this Song
The Filipino pop creator responsible for Midnight Kiss centers their practice on the vibrant, evolving landscape of popular music making in their home country, anchoring this sound in the longstanding tradition of Philippine pop that balances accessible, widely resonant craft with the specific cultural nuance that makes work from the archipelago distinct across global pop spheres. As an artist-led project, this work carries the full creative vision of its maker, unfiltered by external demands that might pull the sound away from the core artistic intent that first led to its creation. Artist-led pop creation from the Philippines often draws from the deep well of local artistic exchange that happens across the country’s many urban and regional creative hubs, where creators gather to share techniques, test new ideas, and refine their work to speak to both local audiences and the vast global Filipino diaspora that connects creators to communities across every continent.
