Mark Coles of BBC Radio once named UDD, also known as Up Dharma Down, the Manila band most likely to cross over to the lucrative Anglophone market of North America, a prediction that has aligned with the trio’s cross-cultural appeal, which has translated to more than 300 million streams on Spotify to date. Composed of members Paul Yap, Carlos Tañada, and Ean Mayor, the electronic outfit has built a discography defined by genre-blending work that draws frequent comparisons to some of the most innovative acts in electronic and pop-centric music, including The Chemical Brothers, Junior Boys, Disclosure, and Caribou, comparisons that highlight the band’s ability to balance accessible hooks with experimental, forward-thinking production.
