This pop recording from the Philippines is by Regine Velasquez, an artist celebrated for her extensive vocal range and belting technique. Often referred to as "Asia's Songbird" and "The Queen of Pop" in her home country, Velasquez has achieved significant commercial success, selling over seven million records in the Philippines and 1.5 million across Asia, making her the best-selling Filipino artist of all time. Born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970, in Tondo, Manila, her early vocal training included unique methods such as her father immersing her neck-deep in the sea to strengthen her core muscles and lung capacity. Her career began to soar after winning the television talent show *Ang Bagong Kampeon* in 1984 and the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989. While an initial single, "Love Me Again," released in 1986 under the name Chona, was not commercially successful, she adopted the stage name Regine Velasquez for her 1987 debut studio album, *Regine*, released under Viva Records.
