The artist behind Torete anchors their work in the Philippines’ enduring, vibrant rock and roll ecosystem, a creative landscape that has shaped generations of creators and audiences across the archipelago, turning the global genre into a distinctly Filipino form that carries the cultural nuances, community bonds, and creative spirit of the place that spawns it. As a rock and roll sound rooted in this local lineage, Torete exists as part of a vast, ongoing legacy of Filipino artists who have adopted and reimagined rock and roll to serve their own creative needs, pushing the genre’s boundaries while staying tied to the core energy that has made it a staple of local music scenes for decades.
