Pop from the Philippines, "Pakiusap Lang (Lasingin Nyo Ako)" is performed by Parokya Ni Edgar, a band known for writing witty pop-punk songs with often strange subject matter. The group formed in Ateneo High School in Manila, originally performing parodies of well-known songs under the name Comic Relief. After signing with Universal, their 1996 debut, *KHANGKHUNGKHERRNitZ The Album*, went platinum in six months. Parokya Ni Edgar's irreverent antics, such as taking melodies from artists like The Clash and Bob Dylan and fitting them with humorous Tagalog lyrics, appealed to both mainstream and underground audiences. Their 1997 album, *BURUGUDUYSTUNSTUGUDUNSTUY*, saw them explore more serious themes while maintaining comedic elements. In 1999, the band's "Harana" video earned the Asian Viewers' Choice award at the MTV awards in New York City.
