Orange & Lemons, the Filipino pop and indie rock staple behind the new pop recording A New Day, has built a decades-spanning career defined by creative evolution, cross-generational musical influence, and a knack for balancing critical acclaim with widespread commercial success. Founded in 1999 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Clem Castro, alongside drummer Ace del Mundo and his brother JM del Mundo on bass, the band first established its sonic identity through a mix of alternative rock, indie pop, and experimental music, drawing inspiration from legendary acts spanning different eras and regions to build a sound that felt both familiar and entirely original. Those influences include UK cult favorites The Smiths, global pop-rock icons The Beatles, and seminal Filipino band the Eraserheads, a group that redefined the possibilities of local popular music and left an indelible mark on every act that followed in its wake, including Orange & Lemons.
