Amiel Sol builds their practice within the rich, sprawling ecosystem of Filipino creative production, rooted in the Philippines’ long history of artists pushing past rigid categorical boundaries to create work that defies easy placement within preexisting genre silos. The album Nahanap Kita emerges from this lineage of unclassifiable creation, its classification under Music/Other not a limitation or afterthought, but a deliberate reflection of the way this body of work resists the narrow boxes that often structure how recorded music is distributed, organized, and understood across global and local music industries. Too often, standardized genre labels are used to flatten the complexity of creative work, forcing artists to align their output with the commercial demands of what audiences are conditioned to expect from a specific category, rather than allowing the work to speak for itself on its own terms.
