Oliver Tree's "Life Goes On" is a genre-defying track from the Philippines, written and produced by Tree and Getter. Released as the second single from the deluxe version of *Ugly Is Beautiful*, titled *Ugly Is Beautiful: Shorter, Thicker & Uglier*, the song gained international recognition and commercial success after its May 28, 2021 release. Oliver Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, California, described the song as being about a problematic relationship and not wasting time on toxic people. His music often incorporates alternative pop, alternative rock, indie pop, hip-hop, dance, and pop-punk, reflecting his satirical and character-driven approach. Tree's debut studio album, *Ugly Is Beautiful*, released in July 2020, featured RIAA gold and platinum-certified singles such as "Alien Boy," "Hurt," "Miracle Man," and "Let Me Down." He was known for distinct personas like "Turbo" with a bowl cut and oversized jeans, and a "cowboy era" persona for his album *Cowboy Tears*.
