Maha Melihat (feat. Amanda) emerges from Indonesia’s decades-deep, thriving jazz ecosystem, a creative community that has long redefined the global jazz canon by infusing the form’s core improvisatory and collaborative spirit with the distinct cultural sensibilities of the world’s largest archipelago. Jazz has always been a migratory, adaptive genre, moving across borders to absorb and reflect the local contexts that host it, and Indonesia’s jazz scene stands as one of the most vivid examples of that inherent flexibility, turning an art form born of Black American experiences in the early 20th century into a vessel that can carry the stories, tonalities, and creative impulses of creators half a world away.
