Nicholas Hoult Abandons Gilderoy Lockhart Role in "Harry Potter" Series, Here's Why
حول هذه الأغنية
Kit Harington replaces Nicholas Hoult as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO's Harry Potter series after a stunning last-minute casting shake-up. Just thirteen days after Nicholas Hoult was confirmed as Gilderoy Lockhart for season two of HBO's Harry Potter series, the studio has made a surprise switch. Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is now stepping into the role, with HBO confirming the change through a statement on the official Harry Potter Instagram account. Hoult's exit comes down to scheduling conflicts, as he's locked into reprising Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, arriving July 2027. Harington isn't a stranger to the character either, having already voiced Gilderoy Lockhart in Audible's 2025 full-cast audio edition of Chamber of Secrets. According to Deadline, he's genuinely excited to finally bring the fan-favorite professor to screen, following in the footsteps of Kenneth Branagh's iconic 2002 film performance. 00:00 - Recast announcement breaks 00:22 - Why Nicholas Hoult stepped away 00:58 - Kit Harington's history with the role 01:27 - Full Harry Potter cast lineup Catch up on everything else happening in the Harry Potter universe, including the full cast reveal and season one countdown.
