Dolly Parton: Trump Orders Week-Long Flag Tribute After Her Death
حول هذه الأغنية
Dolly Parton has died at 80, and President Trump has ordered flags to fly at half-staff nationwide for a full week in honor of the country music legend. Dolly Parton, one of the most beloved figures in country music and entertainment, died on August 25 at the age of 80. Following her death, President Donald Trump announced that flags across the United States would be lowered to half-staff for seven days, calling Parton's passing “a true loss for millions of people.” The week-long tribute stands out because it is longer than recent flag tributes given following the deaths of Pope Francis, Charlie Kirk, and Senator Lindsey Graham. Parton's relationship with politics was always complicated. Despite becoming one of America's most recognizable entertainers, she largely avoided political statements and maintained relationships across the political spectrum. She famously turned down the Presidential Medal of Freedom three times under two different presidents. Her connections with American presidents stretched across party lines, including a 1979 meeting with Jimmy Carter and her 2006 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony during George W. Bush's presidency. Now, as the country mourns Dolly Parton, the extraordinary national tribute is drawing attention to just how much she meant to millions of people beyond music.
