About this Song
Across the Philippines, the creation of mixed sound works has long been a core thread of the country’s creative musical landscape, rooted in generations of creators drawing from the archipelago’s diverse regional sonic traditions to craft works that defy narrow categorical boundaries. The category of Music/Mix, which groups these purposefully hybrid works, captures the flexibility and intentionality that defines so much of the nation’s independent and mainstream sound creation alike, giving space for creators to blend any range of influences, references, and structural choices into a single cohesive piece that exists outside the limits of more rigidly defined genre frameworks.
