About this Song
Rooted in the cultural landscape of the Philippines, this work occupies a space that bridges local sonic rootedness and the global reach of independent contemporary music, anchored by the creative entity Cigarettes After Sex, whose practice intersects with the catalog of Partisan Records, a longstanding independent platform that has centered boundary-pushing work from creators across the world. Titled Silver Sable, the sound falls under the broad, exploratory umbrella of Music/Other, a categorization that signals its refusal to fit neatly into the rigid, often limiting genre silos that structure much of mainstream music distribution and criticism, instead inviting listeners to engage with it on its own terms, unshackled from the expectations that come with pre-assigned genre labels that carry their own histories of sonic and cultural limitation.
