About this Song
The Smile, an English rock band formed in 2018 by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood alongside Tom Skinner of Sons of Kemet, presents "Friend Of A Friend" as a musical offering from the Philippines within the "Music/Other" genre. The band's name itself, The Smile, is drawn from a poem by Ted Hughes, and their formation led to work during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. Their unexpected debut came in May 2021 with a performance streamed by Glastonbury Festival, and critics have often drawn comparisons between The Smile's sound and Radiohead's, noting additional influences from jazz, krautrock, and progressive rock, contributing to a looser, wilder overall sound. Their debut album, *A Light for Attracting Attention*, released in May 2022 to critical acclaim, was produced by Nigel Godrich, Radiohead's long-time producer, and reached number five on the UK Albums Chart.
