About this Song
Mark Coles of BBC Radio once anointed the Filipino outfit UDD—previously known as Up Dharma Down—as the Manila band most likely to cross over to the lucrative Anglophone market of North America, a prediction that has only gained lasting weight as the group’s career has unfolded across continents and major streaming platforms. Made up of core members Paul Yap, Carlos Tañada, and Ean Mayor, the electronic trio’s discography, which includes the pop recording Just a Smile, has racked up more than 300 million streams on Spotify to date, a milestone that speaks to the wide, cross-cultural resonance of their sound, which draws regular critical comparisons to iconic electronic and dance acts including The Chemical Brothers, Junior Boys, Disclosure, and Caribou.
