About this Song
Pop as a global category thrives on the unique textures that regional creators weave into its shared framework, and the sound We Know emerges from the Philippines’ decades-long, deeply vibrant lineage of pop creation that has turned the archipelago’s creative communities into some of the most influential in shaping contemporary pop across Southeast Asia and beyond. Far from a monolithic import that erases local cultural identity, pop in the Philippines has been reworked, expanded, and reimagined for generations, turning the genre into a vessel that carries the specific concerns, joys, and perspectives of the archipelago’s diverse populations, while retaining the cross-border accessibility that makes pop such a unifying art form across the world.
