About this Song
Pop creations emerging from the Philippines carry a long, layered legacy of centering connection that resonates far beyond the archipelago’s borders, and My Old Friend steps into that rich lineage as a sound rooted in the global, community-focused landscape of Philippine pop. For decades, pop works originating from the Philippines have crossed regional and linguistic barriers to find audiences across the world, building a global fanbase that turns to the country’s creative community for work that balances accessible, widely resonant craft with the specific cultural sensibilities that define life across the nation’s more than 7,000 islands.
