About this Song
For decades, rock and roll has been a foundational, transformative force within the Philippines’ vast and diverse creative musical landscape, a form that has been shaped by and in turn shaped generations of creators, audiences, and cultural moments that tie local expression to the core energy that makes the genre resonate across borders, while retaining specific, unmistakeable markers of its origin. Yakap Sa Dilim emerges from this same rich soil, a rock and roll sound that carries the full legacy of the genre’s journey through Filipino creative spaces, where rock and roll has never been just an imported sound but a living, breathing medium adapted to speak to the specific experiences, realities, and connections that define life across the archipelago.
