Total Eclipse of the Heart
About this Song
Vibe Music, the creative force rooted in the Philippines, brings forth Total Eclipse of the Heart, a recorded sound that rejects the rigid boundaries of standard genre taxonomies so thoroughly that it is framed only by the repeated marker of “other,” a classification that pushes back against every expectation audiences might bring to a work they are about to encounter. To label a work as other is never to relegate it to a space of invisibility; instead, it is to acknowledge that the frameworks we build to sort, categorize, and make sense of creative output are often far too small, too limited by their own origins and biases, to hold the full breadth of what artists can create when they draw from the unruly, interconnected mix of cultural, artistic, and personal experiences that shape their work.
