About this Song
Across decades, rock and roll has carved a sustained, evolving space within the cultural landscape of the Philippines, drawing from the form’s foundational transnational energy while adapting to the distinct currents of local creative practice that have shaped every iteration of the genre to emerge from the archipelago. This lineage, which stretches back to the first wave of rock and roll’s global spread, has always centered the ability of Philippine creators to reimagine the form’s core tenets, turning an internationally resonant sound into a vessel that carries the specific perspectives, concerns, and creative impulses of communities across the country’s islands.
