About this Song
Rock & roll’s spread beyond its early mid-20th century North American origins has spawned countless iterations rooted in the specific creative contexts of each new region that adopts and adapts its core structural foundations, and the Philippines’ own longstanding engagement with the genre has fostered a distinct body of work that balances global rock & roll sensibilities with the unique creative priorities that have shaped local music scenes across the archipelago for generations. This sound, titled Ale, sits firmly within that lineage, carrying the core markers of rock & roll that define the genre while anchoring itself to the Philippines’ established legacy of local rock creation that has long connected creators and audiences across the country’s many islands.
