Siprianus Bhuka, born November 22, 1993, in the small village of Waeia in Golewa District, Ngada Regency, on the Indonesian island of Flores in East Nusa Tenggara, grew up steeped in the musical traditions of his home region, a foundation that would shape every step of his career under the stage name Silet Open Up, as he learned to weave those time-honored sounds with the hip-hop, R&B, and rap that captured his imagination as a young artist, first cutting his teeth in the local creative scene as a member of the hip-hop group DMC from 2013 to 2015 before striking out on a solo path that would eventually carry him from community stages in his home province to some of the most prestigious platforms across the globe.
