About this Song
Bakasyonista emerges from the Philippines’ thriving, multifaceted R&B ecosystem, a space that has redefined what the genre can communicate by centering the specific lived realities, cultural nuances, and communal ties that shape life across the Philippine archipelago and its sprawling global diaspora. R&B as a form has long served as a vessel for intimate, personal storytelling that resonates across cultural boundaries, and in the Philippines, local practitioners of the genre have spent decades refining that core to reflect the unique rhythms of community, connection, and transition that define Filipino experience, turning the global language of R&B into something that feels entirely rooted to the land and people that call the nation home.
