About this Song
B.A.D. anchors itself in the rich, continually expanding lineage of R&B created by artists based in the Philippines, a creative ecosystem that has spent decades refining, reimagining, and contributing to the global evolution of the genre. The classification of this sound as R&B places it within a long, diverse tradition of musical work that draws from core roots of soul, funk, and contemporary pop traditions to create work that resonates across cultural borders, while remaining rooted in the specific context of the Philippines’ vibrant creative community. Filipino creators have long shaped the trajectory of R&B around the world, bringing unique perspectives to the form that challenge narrow assumptions about what the genre can sound like, who it can speak to, and what themes it can center.
