This pop recording from the Philippines, "I’m Not That Girl (Reprise) - Commentary," presents an opportunity to consider the broader work of composer Stephen Schwartz, whose career reflects a significant presence in theater and film. Schwartz, born in New York City on March 6, 1948, developed his musical foundation early, studying piano and composition at Juilliard during high school before earning a drama degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1968. His professional journey began at RCA Records as a producer and A&R man, where he achieved his first major success with the title song from *Butterflies Are Free*. Following his departure from RCA, Schwartz contributed music and new lyrics to *Godspell*, a 1971 hit that earned him two Grammys. The same year, he penned lyrics for Leonard Bernstein's *Mass*, and in 1972, a revised version of his college work, *Pippin*, directed by Bob Fosse, also found success with a five-year Broadway run.
