That group, Silent Sanctuary, formed in 2002 as a six-piece Filipino alternative pop-rock act that would go on to earn recognition as one of the pioneers of merging classical instruments like cello and violin with the standard guitar, bass, and drum setup of a band, a signature fusion they dubbed “Rockestra” that would redefine what mainstream Filipino pop and rock could sound like for generations of listeners.
