Few Filipino bands have shaped the sound of modern local pop and rock with the kind of lasting, cross-generational impact that defines Silent Sanctuary, the sextet that first formed in 2002 to pioneer a sonic approach they would eventually brand as “Rockestra,” a seamless blend of orchestral classical instruments like cello and violin with the standard foundation of a band’s core rock instrumentation, a choice that set them apart from their peers at the turn of the millennium and cemented their status as pioneers of an entirely new strain of local popular music. Across more than two decades of creating and performing, the band has built a sprawling discography that includes a run of standalone singles, an EP entitled Kahimanawari, and four full-length studio albums: Fuschiang Pag-ibig, Mistaken For Granted, Monodramatic, and Langit Luha.
