The Filipino collective that redefined local pop-rock through its pioneering fusion of classical and contemporary band instrumentation, Silent Sanctuary first formed in 2002, developing the trademark sound they dubbed “Rockestra” to describe their seamless blend of cello and violin with standard rock and pop ensemble tools, a creative choice that set them apart from every other act working in the Philippine mainstream at the time. Over their two decades as an active working band, they have built a sprawling, beloved discography that includes an EP entitled Kahimanawari, four full-length studio albums—Fuschiang Pag-ibig, Mistaken For Granted, Monodramatic, and Langit Luha—and a string of chart-topping hits that have become cultural touchstones for generations of fans, including the tracks Ikaw Lamang, Pasensya Ka Na, Kundiman, Hiling, and Bumalik Ka Na Sa’kin.
