About this Song
Pop music from the Philippines has always been a dynamic, evolving force, shaped by the diverse cultural currents that course through the archipelago, from the folk traditions of longstanding rural communities to the brash, boundary-pushing energy of urban youth scenes that have turned local popular music into a global talking point for independent and mainstream artists alike. What makes Pinoy pop distinct from many other global pop spheres is its unwavering commitment to rootedness, to creating work that does not pander to fleeting international trends at the expense of the specific experiences of the Filipino people, even as it draws on global musical influences to craft sounds that feel both widely accessible and entirely original.
