About this Song
The creative community that nurtures contemporary hip-pop in the Philippines is rooted in a long lineage of creators who reimagine global popular music forms to center local perspectives, infusing every work they release with the specific cultural context that defines their collective and individual creative identities. For decades, creators working across the country’s major cities and smaller regional hubs have built interconnected networks that allow them to share ideas, refine their craft, and push the boundaries of what hip-pop can be, moving beyond generic interpretations of the genre to craft work that feels both tied to the global sound of hip-pop and unmistakeably rooted in the unique creative landscape of their home.
