When the global pandemic struck and upended typical in-person creative workflows, the young singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rob Deniel turned his bedroom into a fully self-sufficient studio, writing, arranging, and producing his first full release entirely on his own. That track, “Ulap,” became an instant hit, marking the start of a career that would cement him as a defining voice in modern Filipino pop, rooted in the rich, decades-long legacy of homegrown original Philippine music (OPM). In the years that followed that breakout debut, Rob Deniel built out his discography with a string of releases that traced his rapid, consistent growth as a musician, first sharing the indie-pop-flavored “Gabi,” then following that up with the retro-pop leaning “Sinta,” each new track expanding his creative range and hinting at the cohesive signature sound he would soon refine.
