The Philippines-based artist Rob Deniel's "Kalawakan" draws from pop, electronic, folk, indie pop, Latin, orchestral pop, R&B, reggae, rock, and world music. Deniel, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, gained initial recognition with "Ulap," which he wrote, arranged, and produced himself. His subsequent releases, "Gabi" and "Sinta," showcased his evolving musical style. Deniel developed a signature soft rock sound inspired by classic Manila Sound, evident in tracks like "Ang Pag-Ibig" and "RomCom." Known for his romantic musicality, he also released charting songs such as "Miss Miss," "Arrowmance," and "Puso." Deniel's covers of Ogie Alcasid's "Nandito Ako" and "Ikaw Sana" went viral, leading to the digital EP "RD Covers," which includes these renditions alongside "Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang" and Jaya’s "Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig."
