About this Song
R&B practice across the Philippine archipelago has grown into a dynamic, far-reaching creative force, building on decades of cross-cultural exchange that have shaped how the genre is interpreted, crafted, and shared by creators based in the country and connected to its extensive creative communities worldwide. This iteration of R&B does not merely replicate global mainstream iterations of the form, but instead weaves together the genre’s core preoccupations with intimate, personal connection to the specific cultural contexts that shape life and expression in the Philippines, creating work that resonates deeply with local audiences while carrying the universal emotional weight that has made R&B a beloved genre across every corner of the globe. Within this rich, evolving landscape sits True Love, a sound rooted in the Filipino R&B tradition that adds a new layer to the ongoing lineage of work coming out of the country’s creative communities.
