About this Song
Rooted in the Philippines’ dynamic, ever-evolving R&B ecosystem, Swerte carries the core creative impulses that define contemporary Filipino R&B practice, positioning itself as part of a lineage of work that draws from both the structural and thematic foundations of global R&B and the distinct cultural context of its home country to carve out a space that feels both connected to the genre’s international spread and deeply rooted in the specific creative community that spawned it. As a work operating within the R&B category, it aligns with the genre’s long history of centering creative expression that grows out of regional cultural identities, reinterpreting core genre conventions to reflect the priorities, perspectives, and creative leanings of the artists and audiences that engage with it within its national origin.
