About this Song
Rock and roll practitioners based in the Philippines carry forward a lineage of creative reimagination that has defined the genre’s life across the archipelago, turning a form that has circulated globally into a distinctly local mode of expression that carries the weight, joy, and complexity of the communities that nurture it. Every artist working within the country’s sprawling rock and roll ecosystem brings their own relationship to that lineage, building on decades of local creators who have adapted the core impulses of the genre to fit the needs of their audiences, their own creative curiosities, and the cultural contexts that shape how music is made, shared, and received across the hundreds of islands that make up the Philippine archipelago.
