About this Song
Rooted in the Philippines’ longstanding, vibrant R&B creative ecosystem, My Destiny joins a lineage of sounds that reimagine the core of the genre to resonate with the layered lives of listeners at home and across the world’s sprawling Filipino diaspora. For generations, creators working in R&B across the archipelago have drawn on the genre’s core preoccupations with intimacy, identity, and aspiration, weaving those universal themes into narratives that feel specific to the cultural, social, and emotional realities of life across the country’s thousands of islands, as well as the experiences of Filipinos building lives far from their home country, carrying their cultural ties with them as they navigate new spaces. This sound, titled My Destiny, sits within that continuum, adding a new entry to a body of work that has turned Filipino R&B into one of the most dynamic regional expressions of the genre anywhere in the world.
