About this Song
Pulang Karpet emerges from the rich, multifaceted creative circuit of Philippine hip-pop, a genre category that unites the rhythmic core of hip-hop with the melodic accessibility and mainstream appeal of pop, creating a flexible framework that creators across the country have used to channel a vast array of creative perspectives. This classification of sound by origin and genre situates the work within a larger global landscape of music, allowing for connections to be drawn between contemporary creators and the generations of artists who came before them, building a continuous narrative of creative evolution that stretches across decades of music production in the Philippines and across the global Filipino diaspora.
