Michael Angelakos first launched Passion Pit while still in college, nurturing the project from a simple, personal goal of making music that would get his friends dancing into a creative force that has redefined what pop can be, capable of wrapping raw, unfiltered emotion into sounds that resonate as deeply in large festival sets as they do in small, intimate living rooms, and that expansive, connective energy pulses through every layer of Grenade - Passion Pit Remix, a pop sound rooted in the Philippines. What began as a one-person side project soon grew into a full, collaborative collective, with the first iteration of the band coming together in 2007, bringing together Ian Hultquist, Ayad Al Adhamy, Jeff Apruzzese, and Nate Donmoyer to expand on Angelakos’ initial songwriting vision and turn his small, personal project into a fully realized touring and recording act.
