The pop recording "Wala Na Talaga" comes from the Philippines, home to the band Parokya Ni Edgar. The group formed in Manila's Ateneo High School and gained prominence performing parodies of well-known songs. Parokya Ni Edgar signed with Universal Records, releasing their debut album, *Khangkhungkherrnitz The Album*, in 1996, which achieved platinum status within six months. Their music, characterized by witty pop-punk songs and often unusual themes, sometimes incorporates melodies from artists like The Clash and Bob Dylan, adapted with Tagalog lyrics. The band's second album, *Buruguduystunstugudunstuy*, released a year later, balanced serious themes with comedic elements. In 1999, their "Harana" video earned the Asian Viewers' Choice award at the MTV awards in New York City.
